K-9 Unit

Sergeant Jacob Smith and K-9 Rookie – K-9 Rookie is a labrador retriever who was born on November 8, 2021, in Columbia, South America. K-9 Rookie is certified through the State of Ohio in explosives detection and criminal tracking. They were trained at Excel K9 Services. K-9 Rookie and his handler, Sergeant Smith, are assigned to the Lake County Bomb Squad and respond to call-outs in Lake, Geauga and Ashtabula Counties.

Deputy Josh Wendl and K-9 Argo – K-9 Argo is a male, full-bred, German Shepherd who was born on March 28, 2015 in the Czech Republic. Argo is trained in narcotics detection, handler protection, criminal apprehension, tracking and building searches. Argo is certified by Ohio Peace Officers Training Academy. Argo loves going to work with Deputy Wendl and sniffing out illegal drugs. When Argo is not on duty, he loves playing ball with Deputy Wendl.

Deputy Randy Primer and K-9 Justice – K-9 Justice is a male, full-bred, German Shepherd who was born on July 27, 2021, in Slovakia. Justice is trained through the State of Ohio in narcotics detection, tracking, evidence recovery, handler protection, building searches, and criminal apprehension. Justice is known as the “wild child” in the training group. He loves playing tug and his favorite toy is a squeaky pig.
