Part & Full Time Corrections Officers

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of Secondary Education (High School or GED)
  • Knowledge of basic Computer Applications
  • Pass a thorough background check
  • Possesses a valid Ohio state driver’s license

Within one year of hire you must,

  • Attend the Corrections Academy, obtain and maintain certification as a Corrections Officer, meeting all requirements of the State of Ohio.
  • Meet qualifications to drive a county car and be covered under the county insurance policy.
  • Have no felony or serious misdemeanor convictions.
  • Effectively perform multiple tasks at the same time.
  • Possess knowledge of office equipment (copy machines, fax machines, etc).
  • Obtain and maintain Ohio Department of Health certification as a BAC Operator or Senior Operator.
  • Understand and apply written and oral directives issued from Policy and Procedures, Supervisors, and the Ohio Revised Code.
  • Maintain current certification in CPR and basic first aid

Part Time Law Enforcement Deputy

Qualifications:

  • Possess at least a Secondary Education (High School or GED),
  • Knowledge of basic Computer Applications
  • Current certification in CPR and basic first aid
  • Current certification of Basic Peace Officer Training through OPOTA with all required updates
  • Current firearms qualifications, as well as qualifications in various non-lethal weapons as selected by the Agency.
  • Passes a thorough background check.
  • Has no felony or serious misdemeanor convictions.
  • Effectively performs multiple tasks at the same time.
  • Possesses a valid state driver’s license and meets qualifications to drive a county car and be covered under the insurance policy.
  • Physically fit and mentally alert.
  • Knowledge of office equipment (copy machines, fax machines, etc).
  • Understand and applies written and oral directives issued from Policy and Procedures, Supervisors, and the Ohio Revised Code.

Full & part time Communications Officers

The Geauga County Sheriff’s Office is accepting applications for full and part time Communications Officers.

The Sheriff’s Office is hoping to add some new faces to the Geauga County Communications Center! Come apply for an exciting and rewarding career as a 911 call taker and dispatcher (public safety telecommunicators). Telecommunicators are often referred to as public safety’s first, first responder; they answer the public’s call for help, then assign and send appropriate emergency services. Our growing Center’s Dispatchers are only one call away, day and night, to support and serve the residents of Geauga County whether it’s in a law enforcement, fire / medical, or mental health emergency.

Join our team of professionals, certified in CPR/AED, APCO Public Safety Telecommunicator, APCO Emergency Medical Dispatch, NIMS Incident Command, and NCIC/LEADS Law Enforcement Data Systems. Training and certification are achieved in-house and can be completed on-the-job in as little as five months. We work with some of the best in the business; our staff includes fire fighters, EMS personnel, and veteran public safety professionals who live and work in this community.
